Part 1 is a reflective music and spiritual learning piece where participants are taught to reflect and redefine themselves for a positive goal-oriented future. We teach hard work, discipline, the commitment of purpose, and relaxation techniques. Part 2 consists of Group work and writing assignments completed in tandem with a survivor of a drive by shooting. During Part 3, students will write and discuss their plans for a positive future and write about their issues with peers and authority figures. The mending brokenness piece will be worked during this time with the Pain to Power book. Thereafter, a group report to the larger group is held and is participant-led. Finally, there is a weekly 5-month telephone conference and mentorship led by facilitators and the program organizer, Kathy Thompson, for 10 selected eligible participants. The program concludes with the creation of a short video that will be provided to the Brady Committee for review. A Boost Essential Elevation Package is provided to all participants.
